Introduction. Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a severe multifactorial psychiatric disorder within the eating disorders category. It is associated with a high hospitalization rate in international studies, so the objective of this study is to determine the hospital discharge rate (HDR) due to AN in Chile during the period 2021-2024. Materials and methods. Observational, descriptive, and ecological study. A descriptive analysis of HDR due to AN was performed in people over 10 years of age during the period 2021-2024 in Chile, grouped by year, sex, and age group. Data were obtained from the Department of Health Statistics and Information and the National Institute of Statistics. Microsoft Excel was used for data processing. No ethics committee was required. Results. The average HDR for the study period is 1.42 hospital discharges per 100,000 inhabitants. The HDR was higher in women and in the 10- to 14-year-old age group. An average of 25.7 days of hospitalization was obtained throughout the study period. Discussion. The HDR for anorexia nervosa was slightly higher during 2021 and 2022, likely related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The higher HDR among women is explained by the higher prevalence of the disorder in them. The higher HDR among the 10- to 14-year-old group is equidistant from international statistics for the 15- to 19-year-old group. Further study is needed in this regard. The average hospital stay obtained in this study does not consider the reasons for hospitalization. Conclusion. Further study is required regarding the epidemiology of AN. This study is an initial step to expand knowledge
